The Telos for this Blog

The purpose of this blog is intentionally broad for a couple reasons: firstly, I just have a wide range of interests and consider myself to be a multidisciplinarian of sorts. My interests range and may change in flavor from day to day or even hour to hour. And not only that, but they more often than not intermingle, intersect and even coalesce together into one (and ultimately, all of them will, and do).

Many of these broad interests include:

- social justice and peace
- a restored and renewed creation
- humanity's origins and its future
- redemption of culture
- archetypes
- political implications of the kingdom of Yahweh (a la NT Wright and Tolstoy)
- Jesus Christ's birth, life, death and resurrection (especially as encompassing reality itself)
- the ramifications of atonement for humankind as a whole
- quantum physics (and implications for spiritual reality)
- cosmology
- Omega Point Theory (and implications for eschatology)
- divine council theology and trinitarianism (a la Michael Heiser)
- the high calling of the Bride of Christ
- general philosophical meanderings
- MacDonald-esque mythology/fantasy
- Christian mystics in the traditional vein of Madame Guyon
- being moving temples of the Holy of Holies
- transcendent music, poetry and literature

As you can see, anything and everything is fair game, since all creation is in Christ, and all will clearly express and reveal His nature, through oneness with His heart, at the end of days.

Many of these interests have sprouted from general curious ponderings I would have as a child cracking open encyclopedias or just laying on my back on the picnic table in the backyard out in the boonies where there was nothing but me and nature and time.

But most of all, the purpose of this blog is to lift up the romantic hero of the ages and invisible avatar of the Father of all, Jesus Christ, to whom all will be submitted, for whom all was created, and in whom all will be restored and glorified in consummate perfection and.unity with the divine who is before, and in, and through all. Amen, and amen.

Since I can tend to ramble, and paradoxically procrastinate what I will thus anticipate to be long-winded diatribes, I will try to keep each entry short and to the point to become both more digestible, and output more content.

Here's to a successful blogging career (after such a long hiatus from the first post!) Hope you enjoy.

Implicit and Manifested Lordship and Sovereignty

A short post, but I need to finally kick this thing off!

God is above all, and sovereign over all. It's not as if He created the world and it somehow got away from Him. Thus, if Christ is God, then He is truly sovereign over all. The seraphim even now proclaim God's glory permeating all creation.

So what's the deal here?

Apparently Christ is sovereign over all, and yet scripture speaks of the gradual submission of all under Him. But how can this be? How do these two statements not contradict?

Well, obviously - God's sovereignty is implicit, but not fully manifested in our experiential reality. We simply do not see or know Him as Lord. We have yet to come to that state of development wherein we know that all things are truly under His Lordship.

This in turn implies that God allows this current state of ignorance, and all that results from it. He is not harried or perplexed or worried about it, but allows it for His own purposes. And why?

We have to run up against, and see, His Lordship for ourselves, in the ordinary gristmill of life and hubbub of the marketplace. For if we do not grow to see it for ourselves, we will not truly ever see it at all.

And here's the added touch that wraps it all up into a nice, neat package: the kind of Lordship that Jesus is gradually acquiring over humanity (through which, in turn, His Lordship over all creation will become manifested!) is one in which He invades humanity from the inside out and asserts sovereignty THROUGH us! He becomes a tiny zygote and grows to a babe, through to a child and then up to a fully grown man, up to a heavenly creature having been purged by death into the firstfruits of resurrection life.

Our Lord is the type who asserts sovereignty by coming within, first submitting the heart, then the mind, then the body. ALL of creation will become submissive from the inside out, and the kind of Lordship He asserts is one of the human being being subsumed into the Godhead and exalted over all... creating a breathlessly awesome new, supernatural community which assists in submitting all creation unto Him (or rather, manifesting His sovereignty), and shames the archons, the dark powers that be, judging and calling them into submission as well.

What an utterly glorious sovereignty. Amen.
